Where in Costa Rica should I go to surf this July?

Long, clean lines are a priority for me over intense barrels.

I've been to Hermosa & Mal Pais in the Spring & Dominical in October…

Where should I go in July? I loved Mal Pais in March / April but have read that in July it can get to be really huge, full of rip currents, and an even worse paddle out than it is at other times.

I could just go to Hermosa but I really want somewhere with longer lines. It would be nice to practice getting barreled, but I worry that in Hermosa, that's all there'll be.

Any advice?

I hate to break it to you, but there has been a major rebellion in CR. The insurgents are taking over surf spots at alarming rate. However, if you were to send me enough $$ for air fare (me & my quiver) to CR, and a small stipend for provisions, I would be willing to secure a safe beach head at any select location there. You may also have to front me $2 or $3K for arms and ammunition, and to pay a small cadre of local guerrillas. I would glady wire you when the situation is well in hand, but you might have to keep sending me money in the in between time.
